Classes
Winter / Spring 2012 We have lots of new and exciting classes for the winter and spring months! Sign up now and bring a friend. You can view pictures of some of the different class projects at the bottom of the page. Download the Enrollment Form and return it today with your deposit to reserve a spot in a class. You may also download a list of the class offerings here. All classes are from 6:30PM to 9:30PM. No tools are necessary, except as noted.
Shaker
Wall Clock
– make this classic
Shaker wall clock. Four nights February 28th, March 6th,
13th and 20th. All cherry, this is a fun project and looks
good
hanging on your wall. Cost of this class is $480.00, materials included
except
the clock works. You have a choice of quartz movements or mechanical
works. Dining
Room Tray
– build this
beautiful hand cut dovetailed dining room tray. Made of solid cherry
and you
will learn the art of hand cut dovetails. Starting January 12th
and
continuing on the 19th and 26th. Cost of this class is
$240.00. As
always the materials are included. Bench
Class
– this is a
favorite. Build a Shaker bench with half haunched dovetail braces.
Solid
cherry, use it in your hall or at the foot of your bed, and the best
part is
you did it yourself. Starts April 3rd, and continues on the
10th,
and 17th. Cost of the class is $360.00, and this includes
all
materials. Shaker
Side Table
– build
this
classic Shaker side table with graceful tapered legs and a drawer.
Solid
cherry construction with mortise and tenon joints. Six week class
beginning on
January 11th and continuing through February 15th.
Cost
of this class is $780.00. All materials included. Shaker
Oval Carry
– construct
this
Shaker oval carry out of solid cherry. Learn bending wood. Two nights
on
February 7th and 14th. Cost of this class is
$75.00. Half
hull model
class – learn
to carve a half hull model of a famous ship with Vi
Beaudreau. No carving experience required. Dates to be announced.
Cost of
the class is $120.00 materials included. Canoe
paddle class
– build
a
canoe paddle from scratch with Vi Beaudreau. Learn to cut and shape a
canoe
paddle for use next summer or to hang on a wall. Dates to be announced.
The
cost for this class is $300.00 materials included. Sharpening
class
– this
class
teaches you to properly sharpen your hand tools using grinders and
sharpening stones. Please bring chisels, planes or any tool you wish to
sharpen. February 29th. Cost of this class is $60.00. Restore
and use
hand planes – this
class will teach you how to restore a hand plane back to
near new condition and we will learn the different types of planes and
their
uses. March 27th. Cost of this class is $60.00. Bring a hand
plane
to work on. Basket
making I –
this
is
a class with Liz Carnes. We will make a Shaker style basket of reed. No
experience necessary or need to have taken the previous class. Dates to
be
announced. $60.00. Materials included. Basket
making II
– this
is
a continuation of the previous class with Liz Carnes. We will make a
Shaker
style basket of reed. No experience necessary or need to have taken the
previous class. Dates to be announced. Cost is $60.00. Materials
included. Disaster
– after
the storm we
had in October, which knocked out everyone’s power for more than a
week, we
thought we would run a class in being prepared for the worst. This will
show
you what to do when the lights go out and how to deal with the
situation. This
will be one night only but we will have another night if we need it.
Cost is
$60.00 and is on March 28th. Fire
Starting – this
will go along
with the disaster class. It will show you how to properly build and
start a
fire, and how to start a fire when you have no matches. This class will
be on
Saturday so we can be outdoors. Cost of class is $60.00 and is on May 19th. |
